God Our Shield – Protection from the Coronavirus

God Our Shield – Protection from the Coronavirus

We are fighting an unseen enemy that spreads from person to person. Our health is not only dependent on how strong we are physically, but spiritually as well. The Devil is throwing darts of the Coronavirus at us. We should ask the Lord Jesus to shield us from it!

Twenty Scriptures we can claim for God to shield us from the virus:

Genesis 15:1 After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.

Deuteronomy 33:29 Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.

2 Samuel 22:3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

2 Samuel 22:36 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great.

Psalms 3:3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

Psalms 5:12 For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

Psalms 18:35 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.

Psalms 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

Psalms 33:20 Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.

Psalms 59:11 Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield.

Psalms 84:9 Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed.

Psalms 84:11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Psalms 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Psalms 115:9 O Israel, trust thou in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.

Psalms 115:10 O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.

Psalms 115:11 Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.

Psalms 119:114 Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.

Psalms 144:2 My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

How do I obtain eternal life and stop worrying about death?

• Recognize you have violated in some way the laws of God. Violation of legal law is called a crime. Violation of God’s moral law is called a sin. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; - Romans 3:23

As it is written (in the Bible), There is none righteous, no, not one: - Romans 3:10

• Recognize the penalty of sin: Death! For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. - Romans 6:23

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: - Romans 5:12

• Recognize Jesus is the Saviour! Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. - John 14:6

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. - Acts 4:12

And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. - Acts 16:31

• Recognize our lives our sinful by nature. We can do nothing of our own to merit eternal life. Salvation is completely by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ! For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: - Ephesians 2:8

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. - Isaiah 64:6

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; - Titus 3:5

• Recognize Christ paid the sin debt we owe! But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. - Romans 5:8-9

• Recognize you must receive Christ as your personal Saviour! For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. - Romans 10:13

• Ask Jesus to be your Saviour!

Dear Jesus:

I know I am a sinner. I know if I were to die right now, I could not go to Heaven. I ask you, right now, to come into my heart, forgive me of my sin, and be my Saviour. Thank you for saving me and giving me eternal life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

If you prayed that prayer with all sincerity, you have passed from death to life and have been born again into the family of God!

  1. Hi James, thanks for the scriptures. I’m curious, we don’t hear much about Guam. What’s it like there at present. Have you been in lockdown mode? You doing ok?

    • Hi Banjer. Would you like me to post current events about Guam? Yes, it’s in lockdown mode. Nobody is at the beaches for they are closed. People are supposed to go out only to get essential items. Just yesterday I saw for the first time couple FEMA cars! It’s the first time I have even seen one. And I saw several police cars that stopped drivers which is a not a common site on Guam. Police till now have taken a rather low profile.

  2. Hi James, Perhaps a link to a news site for Guam would be good unless you think others may be interested as well then it may be good to post current events. Hope your doing ok. If you want too see info about New Zealand Stuff.co.nz. We are in lockdown week 5, Level 4, 2 weeks to follow at level 3. Of course around the world clearly a good crisis is not going to waste;
