The First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America — 2 Comments

  1. freedom of expression is not mentioned in the first amendment. I understand how you may feel that it should be there. but it’s not

    • The dictionary definition of expression tells me that freedom of speech and freedom of expression are identical in meaning. Moreover, every website I have looked up so far about the subject indicates the same.

      ex·pres·sion
      /ikˈspreSHən/
      noun: expression; plural noun: expressions

      1.
the process of making known one’s thoughts or feelings.
“she accepted his expressions of sympathy”

But maybe you’re right about the meme because it already says Freedom of Speech. I didn’t make the meme, I just thought it was cool. I don’t know what the meme maker had in mind when he or she included the words, “freedom of expression”.
