The Proliferation of Modern “Bibles” — 2 Comments

  1. What do you think of the New KJV? That’s the Bible I am reading. I have Bible study on line and the teacher uses the KJV. I follow along on my Bible and don’t see any big difference. Some words make more sense to me in my version.

    • I don’t like NKJV for a few reasons. The thee, ye show singular and plural. You in KJV is plural, never singular.

      Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ John 3:7 NKJV

      Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. – KJV

      See the difference? The “thee” is referring to Nicodemus, and the “ye” is plural referring to everybody. In the South they would say, y’all and in Chicago they say, “yous guys”. Nearly all European languages have a singular and plural you. English dropped it because it can be offensive to say, “thou” and “thee” because it sounds like talking down at people. It can be that way too in other European languages but they don’t care if a person thinks somebody is talking down to them!

      Another point: New King James Version in Daniel 9:27 says,
      Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;

      KJV says He shall confirm THE covenant…

      NKJV is wrong to use the indefinite article. The Covenant is the same covenant that already was in existence, the covenant of verse 4, the covenant God made with Abraham. NKJV implies the futurist interpretation of Daniel 9:27 which is Jesuit based!

      Also, the word “Godhead” appears 3 times (implying the Trinity) in KJV but in NKJV it’s translated as “divine nature” That’s definitely wrong! Sorry but I think NKJV is a corruption. There are other updates of KJV that are better I think such as the AKJV, the American King James version.
