I posted this meme on Facebook. To my surprise, it was immediately shared by a friend who believes the earth is flat! I say surprise, because I posted this meme to prove to Flat-earthers that the world cannot possibly be flat seeing the two islands are only 100 miles apart and yet 25 hours different in time. This is because the International Date Line runs between them.

Here’s our conversation:

James Arendt Christina, does this mean you have changed your position on Flat Earth?

Christina No, it proves it even more. How can they be 25 hours ahead, but 100 miles away. California is over 2000 miles away and only 3 hours earlier in time. It proves we live a lie.

James Arendt Christina, the International Date Line separates Samoa and American Samoa. Only if the Earth is a sphere could this possibly make sense! These facts are indisputable:
The two islands are only 100 miles apart but 25 hours different in time due to the International Date Line. Prove this wrong and my hat is off to you. This can be possible only if the earth is a ball shape.

Christina Or, they’ve developed a complicated lie that can’t work without this imaginary date line. In fact they aren’t off by nearly a day. How do you explain seeing the moon in America during the day while it’s visible in Australia which is not possible on a sphere?

James Arendt It IS possible to see the moon on a global earth from both Australia and USA at the same time!

James Arendt Flat-earthers are always telling me, “Do your own research! Do your own research!” Well, I HAVE done my own research, and I have presented every one of my findings, and not one of them have been properly answered with facts. All my research tells me the earth is a sphere. It also tells me Flat Earth is a CIA / Illuminati psyop to marginalize Bible believing Christians and ruin their personal testimonial of salvation in Jesus Christ!

Christina Well, once I realized all pictures of Earth are digital art renderings and a slew of other issues, I believe we’ve been lied to, but I’ll still be your friend

James Arendt I’m glad to be your friend too, Christina. Yes, we have been lied to about many things, about history, reasons for wars, about evolution, about 911, about the Apollo moon missions, etc., but to say we have been lied to about photos from space is not enough to convince me the earth is flat when my experience traveling the globe tells me otherwise. One half of the planet is dark right now. Samoa is one full day ahead in time than American Samoa. I saw satellites move across the sky. Only a spherical earth explains me why that is so and many other things such as why I experienced 24 hours of sunlight in the Arctic in the summer, 24 hours of darkness in the winter, and why there is less than one hour variation of daylight in Guam throughout the year. Only a spherical earth explains to me why.

Christina There’s a lot more than photos as the issue. I investigated for a long time after the photo issue came up. It’s just one piece to the puzzle. They fake the footage from space using green screens and pools is another issue. Why fake photos and ISS if they are there? Just show one real thing. They can fool most of us, but not all of us. I don’t think it’s easy to accept flat Earth. Why would anyone invite the ridicule? The Bible tells us the truth, and it says the Earth is flat. I’ll accept that now.

Conclusion:

As Mark Twain once wrote, “It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled.” That’s what I feel about those who have swallowed the deception that the earth is flat. This article was written not to convince a flat-earther that he or she is wrong, but to convince those who have dabbled with flat-earth doctrines, people who are still on the fence who have not entirely been swayed by it. You can see that Christina cannot explain away my statements to her. She doesn’t even try to. She can only dismiss them and parrot what she picked up on YouTubes that teach flat earth.
