The Papal System – XVIII. Purgatory

The Papal System – XVIII. Purgatory

The dying thief entered paradise the day of his death; when Paul was absent from the body he was present with the Lord; the Scriptures know only two places for departed souls: heaven and hell, the scene of happiness, and the world of woe. Any other state or locality for departed souls is destitute of EXISTENCE.

The Papal System – VI. Steps to Papal Sovereignty Over The Churches – Part 2

From the end of the seventh century onward, the power of the Roman Catholic clergy in general grew at an alarming rate. Men who could add a thousand or ten thousand centuries to your torments in Purgatory by a word; who could keep your mother, wife, or child as long as they pleased, or only for a moment, in raging flames, were not to be treated as other men, who could only hurt the body.

History of the Papacy Chapter VI. The Canon Law

The system has been converted into a code. It exists, not as a body of maxims or principles, though in that shape its influence would have been great: it exists as a body of laws, by which every Romish ecclesiastic is bound to act, and which he is appointed to administer. This is termed CANON LAW.

The Two Babylons Chapter IV. Section V — Purgatory and Prayers for the Dead

The blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, cleanseth from ALL sin. If this be true, where can there be the need for any other cleansing? Those who die without personal union to Christ, are consequently unwashed, unjustified, and unsaved.

The Future State, Purgatory, and Masses for the Dead

The Papal hierarchy love money, and the fear of purgatorial torment is a great source of revenue. Belief in purgatory is the false foundation of Masses for the dead.

Confession of Sin, Penance, and Indulgences

Indulgences have been a source of enormous revenue to the Vatican; by appealing to the superstitious fears of their people, high and low, the popes have filled their coffers with gold.

Popery was not the first form of Christianity introduced into England, but that previously there existed an Apostolic Church in these islands; and that consequently the Reformation was but the rooting out of those noxious weeds which had overrun and all but choked the plant of true Christianity.

Roman Catholicism By Lorraine Boettner Chapter XIX A System Tested by its Fruits

James Japan avatarPosted on April 30, 2024 by James ArendtApril 30, 2024

The Roman Catholic Church’s interpretation of the Scriptures is so erroneous and its practices are so persistently unchristian that over the long period of time its influence for good is outweighed by its influence for evil. It must, therefore, as a system, be judged to be a false church.

Good News for Those Who Fear Going to Purgatory!

The doctrine of purgatory says that while God forgives sin, His justice nevertheless demands that the sinner must suffer the full punishment due to him for his sin before he will be allowed to enter heaven.

Roman Catholicism By Lorraine Boettner Chapter VII Mary Part 1

This is the continuation of the previous chapter Roman Catholicism By Lorraine Boettner Section Two Chapter VI The Papacy. This chapter is very long which is why I am dividing it into two parts. 1 Mary’s Place in Scripture The New Testament has surprisingly little to say about Mary. Her last recorded words were spoken at the marriage in Cana, at the very beginning of Jesus’ ministry: “Whatsoever he saith … Continue reading →

Paradise or Purgatory?

Paradise or Purgatory?

The Catholic Church delays the entrance of the believer into Paradise, and makes merchandise of the miseries which she says the believer endures in Purgatory.

Thoughts about the American Pope

The first ever American to become Pope, Robert Francis Prevost, now Pope Leo XIV, reminded me of a quote from The Papacy And The Civil Power – Chapter I. which I posted on this website:

“Pope Gregory XVI., some years ago, uttered the saying, “Out of the Roman States, there is no country where I am pope, except the United States,”…Read More

In all the countries professedly Roman Catholic, the Church was restricted and hampered in what were asserted to be its rights, on account of its close alliance with despotism; while in this country (the USA), owing to the liberality of our institutions, it is “legally free,” and is left without the interference of the law, to the uninterrupted pursuit of its ecclesiastical policy. Manifestly, it is because the nations of Europe, hitherto Roman Catholic, have taken away from “the vicar of God” the power to subordinate the laws of the State to the canon laws of the Church, which have been constructed with sole reference to papal supremacy, that the hope of rebuilding this power in the United States has been excited.” (End of quote.)

Another point is the significance of the name Leo. It was Leo X who, in 1521, excommunicated Martin Luther. Does the name indicate a possible agenda by Robert Prevost to totally crush Protestantism in America? Could he do that when Americans have First Amendment protection that guarantees freedom of religion? Time will tell.

The signing of the Constitution of the Beast of Revelation 13?

signing of the EU constitution

On 29 October 2004, 53 senior political figures from the 25 member states of the European Union signed a treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe. The ceremony took place in the ornate surroundings of the Palazzo dei Conservatori in the heart of ancient Rome where the original treaty establishing the Common Market was signed 47 years previously. Behind them is a statue of Pope Leo X. I think it’s significant that area with Leo X in the background was chosen to sign the EU Constitution because Leo X was the Pope who in January 1521 excommunicated Martin Luther.
