History of the Papacy Chapter VI. The Canon Law

The system has been converted into a code. It exists, not as a body of maxims or principles, though in that shape its influence would have been great: it exists as a body of laws, by which every Romish ecclesiastic is bound to act, and which he is appointed to administer. This is termed CANON LAW.

The pope is the undisputed earthly god of Roman Catholicism. He is called, “God Upon Earth” and “Our Lord God the Pope,” whose ex cathedra pronouncements on doctrine and practice are claimed to be infallible:

The Pope had now made himself absolute master in the Church. There was but one bishop, and Christendom was his diocese. From this one man flowed all ecclesiastical honours, offices, acts, and jurisdiction.

History of the Papacy Chapter IV. Rise and Progress of the Temporal Supremacy.

A crowned priest now sat upon the Seven Hills of Rome. To occupy a seat overshadowed by the loftier throne of the emperors would not satisfy the vast ambition of the pontiffs, and accordingly there was now commenced the struggle for the temporal supremacy.

All Roads Lead to Rome?

In a shocking statement to an ecumenical conference, Pope Francis said, “There’s only one God, and each of us has a language to arrive at God. Some are Seikh, Muslim, Hindu, Christian, and they are different paths [to God].”

History of the Papacy Chapter III. Rise and Progress of the Temporal Sovereignty.

The process by which the nations of Europe, from being pagan, became Christian, may be adequately likened to the contrivance by which the statue of Jupiter at Rome was converted from the representative of the prince of pagan deities to the representative of the prince of Christian apostles, Peter.

Who or What is Leading Kamala Harris?

Normally I don’t want to talk about individual politicians on this website. Many them are unsaved and are only following the agenda of elite people over them. But I was shocked to see this meme of Kamala Harris being possibly possessed by a demon entity! It does make sense when you think about it knowing how she talks and laughs. History of the Papacy Chapter II. Rise and Progress of Ecclesiastical Supremacy.

he first pastors of the Roman Church aspired to no rank above their brethren. The labours in which they occupied themselves were the same as those of the ordinary ministers of the gospel. As pastors, they watched with affectionate fidelity over their flock; and, when occasion offered, they added to the duties of the pastorate the labours of the evangelist.

History of the Papacy Chapter I. Origin of the Papacy

The Papacy, next to Christianity, is the great FACT of the modern world. Of the two, the former, unhappily, has proved in some respects the more powerful spring in human affairs, and has acted the more public part on the stage of the world. Fully to trace the rise and development of this stupendous system, were to write a history of Western Europe. The decay of empires,–the extinction of religious … Continue reading →

The Two Babylons – Conclusion

Most seem to think that Popery is a system merely to be scouted and laughed at; but the Spirit of God everywhere characterises it in quite a different way. Every statement in the Scripture shows that it was truly described when it was characterised as “Satan’s Masterpiece”–the perfection of his policy for deluding and ensnaring the world.

[Only] One Mediator Between God and Men, the Man Christ Jesus. – 1 Timothy 2:5

The claimed “motherhood of Mary in the order of grace” having a “saving office” “to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation” is straight blasphemy against the person of Christ Jesus, Who alone is full of grace and truth.

Two years in the Philippines

June 4th, 2025. Two years ago, June 4th, 2023, Tess and I moved from Guam to the Philippines. It’s been a wonderful two years living in the beautiful countryside near the sea in a small village. The Philippines is a poor country where half of the households don’t own a refrigerator, but food is abundant. Nobody goes hungry.

I finished today my project of creating  a PDF file of R. W. Thompson’s insightful book The Papacy And The Civil Power Click on the link to download it. It’s only 1.8 megabytes in size compared to the copy on archive.org which is 39 megabytes.

Pope Leo XIII On His Authority

See The Papacy Is The Antichrist – By Rev. J. A. Wylie

Thoughts about the American Pope

The first ever American to become Pope, Robert Francis Prevost, now Pope Leo XIV, reminded me of a quote from The Papacy And The Civil Power – Chapter I. which I posted on this website:

“Pope Gregory XVI., some years ago, uttered the saying, “Out of the Roman States, there is no country where I am pope, except the United States,”…Read More

In all the countries professedly Roman Catholic, the Church was restricted and hampered in what were asserted to be its rights, on account of its close alliance with despotism; while in this country (the USA), owing to the liberality of our institutions, it is “legally free,” and is left without the interference of the law, to the uninterrupted pursuit of its ecclesiastical policy. Manifestly, it is because the nations of Europe, hitherto Roman Catholic, have taken away from “the vicar of God” the power to subordinate the laws of the State to the canon laws of the Church, which have been constructed with sole reference to papal supremacy, that the hope of rebuilding this power in the United States has been excited.” (End of quote.)

Another point is the significance of the name Leo. It was Leo X who, in 1521, excommunicated Martin Luther. Does the name indicate a possible agenda by Robert Prevost to totally crush Protestantism in America? Could he do that when Americans have First Amendment protection that guarantees freedom of religion? Time will tell.

The signing of the Constitution of the Beast of Revelation 13?

signing of the EU constitution

On 29 October 2004, 53 senior political figures from the 25 member states of the European Union signed a treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe. The ceremony took place in the ornate surroundings of the Palazzo dei Conservatori in the heart of ancient Rome where the original treaty establishing the Common Market was signed 47 years previously. Behind them is a statue of Pope Leo X. I think it’s significant that area with Leo X in the background was chosen to sign the EU Constitution because Leo X was the Pope who in January 1521 excommunicated Martin Luther.
